Delaware Historical Society Research Library | Wilmington, Delaware September 2022 – Present
Graduate Assistant
- Arranged and processed 6 discrete collections from the 19th–21st centuries, spanning paper documents, photographic materials, and artifacts, and totaling approximately 40 linear feet (as of February 2023)
- Developed folder-level finding aids with DACS-compliant metadata, biographical information, and appropriate subject headings, and added this information to DHS’s online ArchivEra portal
Researched genealogical information, newspaper articles, and other primary sources to better identify the figures who appear in the collections
- Scanned and edited approximately 150 visual and text-based items from these collections, uploading the files and adding sufficient metadata to DHS’s Islandora-based digital repository
- Designed and crafted custom enclosures for 30 glass negatives, 10 daguerreotypes, and 5 ambrotypes
Museum Studies Program, University of Delaware January 17 – 27, 2023
Volunteer Worker, Collections-AID 2023 (Howard High School of Technology)
- Participated in Collections-AID, an intensive service program through UD's Museum Studies Program that assists local organizations with developing archives and offer graduate students archival training
- Worked 8 hours daily for 9 days to help organize, rehouse, and catalog the historic collections of Wilmington’s Howard High School of Technology
- Collaborated with other members of the “Books Team” to list and shelve over 1,300 books and relocate any ephemera contained within
- Maintained accurate and consistent data and edited group spreadsheets for controlled vocabulary
- Coordinated with other student volunteers to shelve and list new locations of document boxes, framed items, and artifacts
- Continued follow-up work throughout February 2023, housing 2 linear feet of audiovisual materials and validating catalogue entries for approximately 75 small artifacts
Vaughan Woods and Historic Homestead | Hallowell, Maine June 20 – August 12, 2022
Summer Intern
- Catalogued the Homestead’s 250-year history of music, organizing sheet music, recorded audio, instruments, and other music-related documents as a discrete collection spanning about 25 linear feet
- Created the organization’s first finding aid, enabling better preservation of and access to the materials while respecting previous archival methods (select documents available upon request)
- Photographed approximately 300 items in the music collection and around the house, uploading the images and adding information to the online PastPerfect database
- Collaborated with staff and fellow interns on tours, activities for children, and grounds work
- Worked alongside Homestead staff and administrators to assemble resources on emergency and strategic planning and to record minutes for the Board’s August meeting on strategic planning

Volunteer Worker, Collections-AID 2022 Part II (Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League)
- Helped build a digital archive of documents at the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League (MWUL) in Wilmington, Delaware, working 8 hours a day over 4 Fridays (schedule due to COVID-19 disruptions)
- Processed scanned documents through ABBYY FineReader optical character recognition (OCR) software, manually reviewing and editing approximately 1,000 pages for accuracy
- Created a spreadsheet of contact details for approximately 90 MWUL alumni and researched up-to-date information on those alumni through social media, Google, and Spokeo people search
- Summarized processes for both OCR editing and alumni research, building a foundation for future work

Volunteer Worker, Collections-AID 2022 Part I (Christina Cultural Arts Center; St. John AM Church)
- Collaborated with other graduate volunteers to build a digital archive on Google Drive at Christina Cultural Arts Center, Wilmington, DE, working 8 hours each day for 4 days
- Assisted the team in organizing and creating metadata for over 3,000 scanned documents
- Assembled a display case and archived documents over 8 hours at St. John AM Church, Newark, DE, placing church records, flyers, and historic books into a secure and orderly structure

- Crafted a secondary school curriculum, entitled “What Does it Mean to ‘Have Died of Dysentery’?: Teaching the American Antebellum Period through Games in a New Jersey High School”
- Analyzed and synthesized existing literature on games in education
- Developed new methods for teaching the Antebellum period through class discussions and games

- Drew from collections in the TCNJ Archives, oral histories, and newspapers to research the history of race, activism, and LGBTQ rights at the College
- Organized and facilitated hour-long interviews with 3 LGBTQ alumni
- Consulted with students in the History and Arts/Interactive Multimedia Departments to transform research into exhibit panels
- Synthesized research into material for “Our Trenton Roots,” a permanent exhibit in TCNJ’s admissions building
